Smith Wigglesworth: A Life Dedicated to God's Work (1859–1947)

Smith Wigglesworth was a British evangelist, preacher, and one of the most influential figures in the early Pentecostal movement. Known as the "Apostle of Faith," he devoted his life to preaching Jesus Christ, encouraging believers to trust God completely, and demonstrating unwavering faith in the power of the Holy Spirit.

After giving his life to Christ at a young age, Wigglesworth worked as a plumber before being called into full-time ministry. Although he had very little formal education, his passion for God's Word transformed him into a powerful preacher whose ministry reached thousands across Europe, America, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

His ministry focused on:

• Proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

• Leading people to salvation.

• Praying for the sick and believing God for healing.

• Encouraging believers to live by faith.

• Teaching the power of the Holy Spirit.

• Raising disciples who would continue Christ's work.

Smith Wigglesworth firmly believed that faith in God's Word could overcome every obstacle. His sermons consistently pointed people back to the authority of Scripture, repentance, holiness, and complete dependence on Jesus Christ.

Many people testified to experiencing healing, deliverance, and renewed faith through his ministry. While accounts of miraculous healings are widely associated with his work, Christians differ in how they interpret these reports. What is undisputed is his lasting influence on Pentecostal and charismatic Christianity around the world.

One of his best-known statements was:

"Only believe."

His life reflected the command of Jesus in Matthew 28:19–20—to go into all the world, preach the Gospel, and make disciples. Today, Smith Wigglesworth's books, sermons, and teachings continue to encourage believers to grow in faith, pursue holiness, and boldly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
